Launceston Tasmania was founded in 1806 by European settlers. Like many places in Australia, its name comes from the English town of Launceston in Cornwall. This is the first place in the entire southern hemisphere to manage anesthesia. This is the first Australian city to implement the underground sewage system, and the first Australian city to use hydroelectric power. Launceston is the second largest city in the Australian state of Tasmania. There are about 105 000 inhabitants. It is also one of the oldest cities in the country and has many beautiful 19th Century building.
