Underwater Life in the Wakatobi Like The Real Heaven

Lo Wakatobi already very popular in foreign countries, especially after Wallacea Expedition from England in 1995 mentions that the area in Southeast Sulawesi is very rich in species of coral. Over there, there are 750 of total 850 species of coral in the world.

Until now, even on the island of Hoga, one small island in the Wakatobi, Wallacea Expedition institutions is still placed a research institution that was always visited by interested students from various countries. For the scope of Indonesia, Wakatobi is a district that consists of four main islands, namely Wangiwangi, Kalidupa, Tomia, and Binongko. So, Wakatobi is an acronym for the name of the four main islands. Before December 18, 2003, the archipelago is called Tailor Iron Islands and is still part of Buton Regency.

So, indeed Wakatobi diving paradise for sports fans. Until now, there are 29 diving points on offer to anyone who would come there. Want to know where the diving is spectacular in there? There, the name is Mari Drunk point. Kidding? Not. The name of the place it was and anyone who comes to a point close to the island Tomia it must be drunk because of its beauty.

Wakatobi is an isolated island located in the center of the Coral Triangle in Southeast Sulawesi, Indonesia. It is home to Indonesia's second largest Marine National Parks, covering 12 500 square kilometers of protected coral reefs and pristine, white sandy beaches and traditional villages in remote areas. Thus Wakatobi is a big destination for scuba diving enthusiasts from around the World. This has become increasingly popular with recreational divers, underwater photographers, marine biologists, and backpackers.

Until now, Wakatobi has been difficult to achieve because of remoteness, but is now changing with the introduction of an airport on the island Wanci. Now there is Air Express flights daily (except Monday) to the airport. Wakatobi visitors can take a morning flight from Jakarta or Surabaya and transit in Makassar. From Makassar You can take a small 32 passenger plane to Wanci, from Bau-Bau. Divers should be aware that baggage allowance on flights is just 10 kilograms, so pack light and consider hiring your diving equipment from your dive operator in the Wakatobi. You can pay for excess baggage, but is often delayed if the flight is at full capacity.

This is good news for everyone who loves the underwater tourism. You do not bother wasting time and again to go to the Wakatobi Marine National Park, Southeast Sulawesi, Indonesia, the perfect place to explore the underwater scenery is stunning. From now on, easier and faster to get there than before, because a lot of direct scheduled flights to and from the Wakatobi.

Some time ago, to reach the Wakatobi, visitors must first go to Makassar or Kendari (Southeast Sulawesi provincial capital) by plane or ferry from Jakarta or Bali (for the moment, there are no direct international flights to Makassar). Then, they must be connected to their travel by plane or boat / local boats to go to Bau-Bau (transit city) before they reached the point of Wakatobi.

And the good news is, Usman Syafei Jamal as the Ministry of Transportation Government of Indonesia, making Matahora Airport officials in late June 2009. The airport has been developed since 2007, is located at Wangi-Wangi, the capital of Wakatobi region. Matahora runway is 1400 m and 30 m long and wide. Next, it will be added to 2100 m in the year 2010 so that the runway could have landed the plane like a Boeing 737.

So, there are two airports are operated in the Wakatobi. The first is Maranggo Airport, operated by the Wakatobi Dive Resort, which serves direct flights from Bali sometimes to Tomia (exclusive tour package / charter air).

The second is the airport that we just talked at the top, Matahora Airport. Currently, there is only SusiAir which operates ten flights per week (-Wakatobi-Kendari Kendari) and it only takes about 45 minutes in one trip. In summary there are many ways to achieve the Wakatobi, and the gateway is through Wanci. So far, the easiest way is to fly, but the boat last night from Bau-Bau is also a good alternative, especially if you think spending a few days diving in Bau-Bau earlier. Once you arrive in Wanci you can travel by public boat to reach the top diving destination and the island of Hoga Island Tomia.
